Today, we will study the consonant digraph th. It spells two sounds: unvoiced /th/, like in the word “sloth” and voiced /th/, like in the word “this”.

The letters t and h can come together to spell two different sounds. The letter combination th is a consonant digraph. The two sounds are:
An unvoiced /th/ like in thin
A voiced /th/ like in this

We use the digraph th at the beginning or end of words. You’ll find it at the beginning in words like thin, that, and thick; and at the end of words like bath, with, and froth.
